5 Sure-shot job search tips

Looking for a job was never easy. Recession or not, the entire process is stressful and can take a toll on you. The entire process involves a lot of careful planning and tremendous efforts. And if the search turns lengthy, it may trigger negativity which, unfortunately, can hamper the process.

Therefore for an effective job search, you should counter attack negativity, pessimism, panic attacks etc. Pessimism will not delay the process but also kill your confidence at the time of interview.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Polish your abilities: Most employers look out for extraordinary skills in a candidate. Explore the in-demand skills and try map your abilities with them. It will be good to take up a course or attend a workshop to attain the skills which might prove fruitful.

  • Networking: Make your objectives known on the Internet (blog, networking sites) and to your friends. Post your resume on reputed job portals and search the Internet for possible hiring.  Explain your job interests to your friends and ask their help in it.

  • Dedicate your time to the search: Dedicate some of your free time every day to job search. This will help you to remain focussed and crack a break faster than otherwise.

  • Make it a continuous learning experience: You are bound to make mistakes in the process, so do not be hard on yourself. Instead learn from every mistake you make. Make sure you stay alert and do not repeat it again.

  • Do not be rigid: Do not be fixed on a particular issue like job expectations, benefits etc. If the market is not doing well, it is beneficial to take the job and work your way up. If you do not mind waiting for better options, keep trying.

Fight pessimism and negativity to maintain a healthy outlook. Your demeanour gets affected when you are not optimistic; your attitude, conversations, viewpoint take the negative road which is harmful. Positivity is in direct relation to success. Be close to your family and friends for their support. Be cheerful and happy to become the deserving candidate which every employer looks for.
